Can you refile an old tax return with a transcript?

I need to do an amendment on last years tax return which I didn’t make a copy of. I’m wondering if I would be able to send them my transcript with the rest of the required paper work and still be able to get the rest of my refund. I’m trying to avoid paying to 60 bucks to have them mail me my old return if I can help it.

Your NEW return for that tax year will have to be the1040X when you need to correct an error that has been made on an original filled in and filed 1040 FIT return.
Go to the www.irs.gov website and use the search box for Instructions for Form 1040X (12/2012) Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return
