What kind of form should I use for declaration of income tax?

Some amount of my Income Tax was deducted by my employer.
I will deposit the remaining amount myself (self assessment tax).
What kind of form should I use for declaration of income tax? Is it the
form 16 A ?

You declare your total income (including the salary income) through return forms prescribed by the Income Tax Department. These are numbered as itr-1 itr-2 itr-3 and so on. Generally, for salaried class having some other income from bank interest etc. ITR-1 will suffice. Much depends on your ‘other income’; whether it is from business or professional services.

Please visit the website of incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and find out which form is applicable in your case.

Please remember to pay the remaining tax amount on your own before filing the return.

For financial year 2010-11, the last date would be 29th February 2012. For F.Y. 2011-12 however, you have time till 31st July 2012.
